My Anti-Fascism Manifesto
There was much in it that I did not understand, in some ways I did not even like it, but I recognised it immediately as a state of affairs worth fighting for.” George Orwell
The day after the election that presented the top ten out of over fifty articles, the modern day Cassandra has written this year. I probably should have done the same but I am just now getting myself back together.
I am probably not going to write or rather publish much between now and the end of the year for many personal reasons, so in a way this is almost like a year end post, though I am sure I’ll be apologizing later for lying to you when I post additional essays. I mean I am currently drafting three as I am typing this. So, take this with a grain of salt.
But… without much further ado, here are my Ten Articles Explaining the 2024 Election:
I started writing again at the beginning of the year because I needed an outlet and a way to start my much overdue and needed introspection. I think the best one that also relates to the theme of this post was my not so thinly veiled review of Casablanca as a way to make up my own mind about myself in The Modern Prometheus though I have done more introspection in The More Things Change and other stories.
Since this was a year of a lot of hyped up movies and because I have always been a movie-type-person, I’ve written a few pieces, you can think of them as film reviews, on the movies I’ve watched this year:
and of course the trilogy of Civil War related essays in the list above.
Looking deep into myself I had to also look back into the environment I grew up in, so I wrote a lot on Russia and Russian ethnonationalism from asking, rhetorically of course, Are We The Baddies?? to hoping that we Never Again witness any more of Russian atrocities, but the hope is almost nonexistent, hence The Eulogy for the Forever Damned.
Thank you for reading.
Stay strong.
We are in this together.
We will not go quietly into the night. We will not surrender. We will resist and we will prevail in the end.
