Sprezzatura #15 - And Rohan Will Answer
It’s fall. I’ve sent out enough Sprezzatura emails that long-time subscribers know how I feel about it.
Sweater weather, apple pie, the crimson-gold hues of maple trees… Pure heaven. I’m even looking forward to the crystal hint of ice in the air that signals the start of winter.
Fall is THE BEST!
[VIDEO] Geddy Lee’s baseball collection
This video knocked my socks off. The bassist for Canadian rock band Rush, Geddy Lee, is an avid collector: bass guitars, wines, and… baseballs! One of my favourite things is watching people talk about things they love and it’s very clear that Geddy loves his baseball collection.
Amusing sidenote: his name was Gary at birth but morphed due to his mother’s heavy accent and “Geddy” is now his legal name.
[VIDEO] How cruise ships got so big
This video on the history of cruise ship design is a nice watch. I’ve never been on a cruise (no thank you to seasickness). But it also led me down a rabbit hole to this acerbically great read by David Foster Wallace about his week on a cruise ship.
[VIDEO] Johnathan Frakes sounds drunk
I cried laughing at this video. It’s perfectly ridiculous.
IMPROV TIP
I’ve got a new blog post up on the Improv College site. It’s about facilitating conflicts between members of a troupe. It’s written for improv coaches but it can be for anyone in a troupe, or anyone dealing with conflict, really.
I’ve been writing it on and off since last November when someone asked me for some advice on a situation they had. They said I should share my ideas. Little did I know I had SO MANY THOUGHTS about it. I even included a link to a one-page reference at the end that you can use during a conflict resolution meeting.
EVENTS
== I’m repeating my online Unstructured Narrative class on Sunday November 24. It’s 4 hours of narrative improv where we don’t care about the structure of the narrative, but we do develop and follow our story instincts. It’s 75$ Canadian and space is limited to 12 people with 2 reduced equity rates of 25$ for people who need it (first-come, first-served).
