326 - a pile of junc βοΈππ΄
one man's treasure is another man's junk
Hey there, !
Recently I was reminded that I once wrote about being under the same moon - a poem from Li Bai called ιε€ζ. It goes:
εΊεζζε
ηζ―ε°δΈι
θι ζζζ
δ½ι ζζ ι
It's a poem about someone far away from home, looking at the snow on the ground, seeing the moon in the sky, and reminiscing about their hometown - things far in the past and far away.
It reminded me that I used to blog AGES ago on another site - vincentjrold.blogspot.com - which for some reason I named 'Junc'. Maybe because it was junk that I just wanted to put somewhere?
Anyway in the interests of reminiscing I thought it would be fun to go back and look through some of the old posts...see what I remember.

BANNER for teh BLOG! - I used to love Photoshop, but I wasn't that good at it. However, I remember making this banner and thinking it looked SO COOL; I had these amazing light show effects, it was a cat jumping out of a CHEST and It looked like I was 'writing' on a scroll! So fantastic.
Friends, Facades and Fireworks - an early move into Life Update-type territory? Still early themes of facades, masks, labels, and then also food. So not much has changed, I guess?
Tumblr has cool pika-choors - this post has like 2000+ views and I was SO HAPPY ABOUT it...until I realised that it had got picked up because of a cool photo on Google Images and everyone was clicking through to my blog because of it. Doesn't matter, vanity metrics are cool too :D
2010 - look at this guy, full of hope and optimism for another grueling year of Year 12 ahead. Such memories.
adversity and humility; further thoughts on man - man I loved thinking about this shit. STILL AM, STILL LOVE IT.
ζ°΄θͺΏζι - OH MY BAD it wasn't the other chinese poem, it was this one that was about looking at the same moon!
Thank you for joining this nostalgia trip - let me know if you find any other cringey gold on the old blog :D

Beyond the Infinite 2 minutes - 4 stars but it's so fun!! - this time I link you straight to the SBS On Demand service because it's so good I want you to be able to watch it as soon as possible! It's a short film - maybe like 70 or 80 minutes, and it really just revolves around one idea; a screen that you can see 2 minutes into the future. It commits to this one idea, and goes enthusiastically at it for the whole time - such a simple idea, and executed so well! The whole thing was filmed on an iPhone as well, and it's low-budget, sure, but so much fun. Watch it!!!!

Elchi - an Indian restaurant in the city that is superbbbb. I have never been to this place before and was eating a vegan menu, but it was still bloody delicious! The service was impeccable, the food was super flavorful and varied, and the vibe was super relaxed (in a really good way). There's this gunpowder gobhi (crispy cauliflower) that tasted so umami and meaty (but was vegan), there was a Palak Patta Chaat which had perfect texture combinations of crispy and saucy, and then a really interesting Gulab Jamun and Vanilla Bean Blaze which was a hot/cold ice-cream + fried dough combination that SLAPPED. Go try it out if you have a chance!
