263 - to the holidays we go π
Hey there, !
A break in the schedule 'til some time in January - there's a bigger post that I'm doing drawings / illustrations for again that I want to make sure I do justice to, but I don't have the time for right now. I want to take a bit of a break over the christmas period, catch up on my celebrancy course, spend time with family, and potter around the house a bit.
Don't know how long this break will be, but I'm excited to write up the next piece I have been thinking about for a while - so it'll be a good one when it's out, I hope.
It's the time of the year to enjoy time with your loved ones, weather through a hot Australian summer, and take a good rest to recharge for the new year. I'm personally looking forward to getting the Chinese Zodiac written up once again - Year of the Snake here we come!
Love you all - thank you for being here as always <3

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

-
Dolan on Silk Road - hand-cut noodles, grilled lamb skewers, meat biscuit thing - all delicious and spicy and wonderful. It's in Box Hill and is pretty delicious - so highly recommended!
-
Bingsu Ya - honestly just adding this because I've run out of recent recommendations; it's good, but I'm not that massive of a fan of bingsu. It's flavoured shaved ice which I'm just like...okay? Good enough to try out at least :D

digital consumption keeps me from getting better at my job - accompanied by a great thread on Hacker News regarding the shortening attention span. It's written by someone who's probably a bit younger, but I think still a useful piece to read.
-
Kung Fu - it's more of an advice column / piece rather than about kung fu specifically, but I particularly liked the opening lines as it relates to giving advice in general:
Startup strategy is like Kung Fu. There are many styles that work. But in a bar fight, youβre going to get punched in the face regardless.
I can only teach you my style. Others can only teach you theirs.

'Brain rot' named Oxford Word of the Year 2024 - I loved learning the phrase 'rotting' from gen-Z friends this year. Lovely to see it's become the word of the year :D
