209 - life update!
A new dawn, a new day, ! Also new perspectives on life I guess.
Let's go!
-
The most obvious thing is I'm back in Melbourne...but soon to be off to travel again :O I don't know if I've caught a travel bug but traveling is real fun if you just don't think about it :D See meme below - I remember being so adamant that you didn't need to travel to find yourself, but I mean...I did?
I think that it's because you learn more about yourself by going to new places and doing new things - but I still think you could do that at home!! My toxic trait is being stubborn I guess :D

I really really enjoy being home, even though I'm off soon. I love my house. I love being in it and having everything here that's mine and I get to change things and look after things. I love cooking in the kitchen, I love sleeping in the bed, I love showering in my bathroom. I love working at home. I love reading my li'l books in my li'l reading nook and watching as the lights go on and off like I programmed them to. I love watching my plants grow and I love watching TV. There's a lot to do still (more art, more furnishings, more gardening, more hosting), but I'm so...satisfied (? I guess, is the word). It's a happy feeling.

I recently reflected a lot more on where I am with my life, and why, and whether I like it or not. To be honest, there are lots of things I thought I would have done by now, and perhaps that's because I haven't had intention to do those things, but in other cases it's because of just...life. Luck, fate, destiny - whatever it is. I definitely did not think I'd ever have a tattoo, or be at one job for so long, or still be single at 30. But on the other hand I never thought I'd still have such a wide range of close friends, or that I'd be enjoying travelling so much, or that I'd get to be really into the nerdy stuff I shied away from when I was a kid. Life is funny that way - truly, YOLO.

I have so much to write - I'm living on the edge with no future pieces written at the moment! I want to write up all the topics I came across while overseas, I want to write fiction, I want to write explanations of things, I want to write for the DnD campaign I'm in, I want to do so much more and double down on the things I love. I just wish there was more time.
-
Note of future topics to come:
-
"Rant about the Tube",
-
"Success from dissatisfaction",
-
"Hypocrisy makes us human",
-
"Tourists suck when it comes to classical music concerts",
-
"Fried Chicken tier list (America update)",
-
"Vince writes a commencement speech" (maybe)
-
-
Short and sweet - time to go fill that backlog with more writing :D

✔️Real Life Recommendations
-
Gymkhana - the one Michelin star place we went to in London which had some of the most elite Indian food I've ever had. It will star in a future post but the fried chicken bites as the starters here were some of the best I've ever had. The curries were insanely great, the service was patient and attentive and it was just an all round wonderful meal. The vibe is very upscale but in a very familial way - like, it's not too posh, and though it was sensible, it was still a fun ambience. Truly appreciate and love that I was able to do it with the fam as well - a cozy, lovely, shared experience.
-
House of MinaLima - okay so everyone goes to Kings Cross Station and then goes to the Harry Potter store there, but this li'l place is the original prop builders studio where they sell a host of Harry Potter stuff, sure, but a lot of other really cool things as well. There was a print that I really wanted that I saw at the Kings Cross store, and they told me they got it from this place - the House of MinaLima (the names of the two designers). A really fun place to visit - it was a bit different to the more commercial HP stores and was a little more arty. Recommend a visit!
🚌 Adventures on the Information Super-Highway
-
Napflix - Netflix, but it's for really boring content that you can go to sleep to. Hilarious idea!
-
The Extremely Enchanting, Totally Perplexing, Possibly Never-Ending Quest for the Golden Owl - a REAL LIFE mystery with a REAL LIFE prize attached that has people searching all over the world!! Fantastic write up of real life treasure hunters.

Whatever happened to Cryptokitties? - it was one of the first big blockchain games - so what happened? tl;dr it got too expensive based on how Ethereum works, and everyone left. Are we still talking about crypto? Anyone?
