182 - Company Names, once again! 🏒🏒

Hey there, !

Inspired by myself - wanting to do it again!

  1. I used a random name generator - I wanted to do top 5 girl and boy names of 1993 (my year of birth) but they're all boring.

  2. The logos are all made by logo.com - just randomly iterating and picking through some generated logos - for a bit of fun and to be more graphically interesting

So let's find some more fun ones - three of the ideas are inspired by chatGPT, can you work out which ones?:

Annabelle: A gardening service that specialises in creating edible gardens...but not just vegies and spices; no, our Annabelle specialists are experts in how to design and create a Willy Wonka edible garden experience, right in your backyard! Eat chocolate trunks, chewy roll-up leaves, flower teacups, marshmallow mushrooms, and...grass I guess ^^

Charlie: The name gives wholesome vibes, so I reckon it could be something like...a direct-to-farmer marketplace. You'd be taking the "farmer's market" experience on to an online channel, and allow people direct access / requests with the farmers themselves. It wouldn't work for many big farmers who I assume are trying to get contracts from major supermarkets / suppliers, but it might help with smaller operations?

Dom: Dom probably knows where the best art galleries, beer gardens and events are - I reckon this would be an app that can artificially set an itinerary for a day out on the town for you based on approximately what you want to do, and how long you're spending at each place. It would have integrations that can sense how many people are at particular locations, whether it's gonna be buzzing, or quiet - and whether tickets are still available to particular events. Need to plan out your weekend last minute? Just ask Dom!

Elizabeth: A specialty store that deals with jewelry that was previously owned by royals only. It's so exclusive that I feel like it already exists, I just don't have enough money to know about it :(

elizabeth

Henry: I feel like this would be a serious business that just tried to be a little bit more fun, or a fun business that's trying to be a bit more serious, which leads me to like...a paper company or a brewery - or maybe both! How about a packaging company that deals specifically in alcoholic drinks? More specifically, you can personalise your labels for gifts or prototyping a new brand? This one needs work...

Pamela: A tool company that specialises in making decorative, colorful, aesthetically pleasing but still highly practical tools. I'm thinking about axes that have handles with colourful flair, or metal that is dyed (?) to a different colour to have a different sheen, or even like, cosplay-type knives / swords / axes that are actually really useful tools. Imagine a Buster Sword, but I could use it as a saw! Or a replica Kratos war axe, but it's actually usable as an axe!

pamela

Qing: A subscription art service that sends you a framed art print from around the world every month from upcoming artists; if you want to keep it, you can pay a fee for it. If not, you send it back and get a new one at the end of the month. You'll just keep getting them until you have enough art at home :)

qing

Silas: A life sized 3D printing machine which can scan your body, and 3d print a copy of your entire body - taking cardboard cutouts to a whole new level. Instead of a photo, you get a full-body 3D memory...of you!

silas

Tatiana: A dance experience where you get one hour to learn the choreography, and then you're put on to a stage with a whole troupe of people just like you for a performance! The point is to screw up (like improv), and help people get over their fear of looking like a fool, since everyone's looking like a fool. The Tatiana Experience - dance like everyone's watching.

tatiana

Wayne: A foundation that focuses on a number of things: promoting the arts and humanities: to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty, to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology, and to fund scientific research and help altruistic people with research by providing facilities and training. Maybe we could call it the...Wayne Foundation? Wait a minute...

βœ”οΈReal Life Recommendations

  1. Bullet Train - not as good as John Wick 4, but I like to describe it as like... a hyper-pop, over-the-top version that is like the upbeat, comedic Marvel to the dark and gritty DC. Lots of colorful lights, some fun action choreography, some stupid justifications for the plot, but some excellent style points. A lot of stars - notably Brad Pitt, but also Hiroyuki Sanada is once again standout, being The Katana Guy. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has a real fun character too! Highly recommended (found on Amazon Prime and BINGE) :D

  2. Red Rooster Hot Honey Chicken - recommended by Dave, this was actually a bit of a revelation?! I haven't eaten Red Rooster in YEARS because I've always thought it sucked, even when they brought out fried chicken I was like 'well why wouldn't I just go to KFC'. However, this one with hot honey gave korean fried chicken vibes, in a fast food format, and with the chips / drink / meal - delicious, scrumptious, crunchy - the works. The hot honey is sweet, spicy, and the flavour is pretty good, and the fast food prices help with #value as well - definitely worth a try!

🚌 Adventures on the Information Super-Highway

  1. The time Bell Labs brought the Statue of Liberty under its roof (Literally) - I'm all about niche stories - this one about re-coppering the Statue of Liberty, but with the right patina of age on it. Fascinating stuff!

  2. His software sang the words of God. Then it went silent. - more niche stories! This one specifically about a guy who trained a computer to help sing the Torah, but because he kept it close to his own chest, when he died, it couldn't continue being supported. The measure of a man's life.

  3. Origins - a beautiful computer - craftsmen put so much work into making our everyday things beautiful...so why not a computer? An attempt at making 'a beautiful computer', something worth owning and not just disposing of.
