179 - Life, what's it all about? 🌱
Hey there, !
Look, Ma, it's a pretty photo from home!
We back at it again with the Life Updates - but this time around I don't have to start with the house any more! So...what do I start with?! O_O
-
Living alone is a ~ vibe ~. It's neither good or bad, just different. There's a lot of upside in terms of having control of your space and being responsible, but it's also quiet, and all that responsibility is on you. It can be kinda lonely, but I've just had a housewarming which has filled up my cup for a bit longer!

It's time to start doing! I have this list of little projects I'm going through for the house that I'm excited about. I want to do these things and prove to myself that, as I published last week, I can have that experience of doing. Use reality as a guide, rather than my shoddy simulations. Here are some:
-
Replace curtains and install some in the kitchen
-
Replace the couch, maybe the kitchen table / seats
-
Install some better lighting around the place
-
Install my LED strips...somewhere
-
Fix and clean up the cellar downstairs
-
Outdoor projects - gardening, outdoor patio area, etc.
-
Getting some side tables, front tables, back tables - all tables!
-
-
Back to the grind of apps and speed dating - yikes it's hard to put yourself out there and get nothing back. Just the other week went to a quiz speed-dating event with a friend where we were supposed to meet a bunch of people...only to find out that no-one else rocked up, and the event was just a normal trivia night. In the end, fun night regardless, but still - YIKES. The universe is giving us signs...
-
Looking more seriously into doing more things with my hands - hobbies like woodworking and picking up lockpicking again. I feel like I like multi-tasking my life for efficiency, but it's difficult. But as long as it's like a...mindful thing, and also a hand-ful thing, then it works? We'll keep it going
NEW THING FOR LIFE UPDATES: What should you ask me about before my next update?
-
Hopefully by next time I will have read more books - I'm looking forward to one called Every Version of You because it seems to have had some great reviews :D Written by an Australian author (Grace Chan) as well so I'm keen for it. I also got Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie from the library - and I love these li'l cute detective novels so yay.
-
I'm re-discovering recipes and baking / cooking a lot more - so maybe ask about that? I want to ferment some kimchi, I want to break down and roast more chickens, make some jam, pickle some vegies - all the fun stuff!
-
Follow me up on WHAT HAVE YOU ACTUALLY DONE AT THE HOUSE yay getting followed up is always fun.
Chat soon :)
Let me know if you have any feedback for the newsletter!
✔️Real Life Recommendations
-
The Last of Us - I'm late on the bandwagon, but this bandwagon is so goddamn good - all props to Jess for getting me on it. It's got some lovely storytelling - I haven't played the game (I've watched it) - and some of the side stories seem better than the main one! Ep3 which you all will have heard about was just so heartbreakingly beautiful. I loved it. Please watch it if you can - I got it on BINGE.
-
Costco - I have been before, but I went the other day and actually signed up; even on a Friday night it was PACKED. I think I have the exact same thoughts as everyone else - big quantity of things, new brands everywhere. Just like...go if you need big catering I guess?

E-Bandages Lightly Zap—and Heal—Wounds - cool technologies! Here's a bandaid that can use little electrical impulses to promote healing. Fascinating, fascinating, fascinating.

cobble_stone (The Texture of Your Childhood) - MORE NICHE CONTENT - if you ever played video games when you were young, it's likely that you would have seen this texture in the background, just recolored or differently sized.
