164 - lil life update π±
Hey there, !
-
Renovations: They’re 90% done! Kitchens and bathrooms are all finished - all we gotta do now is paint, lights, furnish, and start moving in! Exciting times :) The next step is looking for furniture, art, all that stuff to actually furnish the house with things. I have a bunch of stuff leftover (like tables and chairs) but going to be hunting for other things and slowly improving the house as I live in it for a while.
-
Rest and exercise: my gymlyf has fallen off a bit - I had a bit of a time feeling tired and overwhelmed with work and fell off the wagon, but I’m getting back to it! I recently got a smartwatch that tracks my steps, heart rate and other fitness things, which has helped me monitor my sleep more - as well as the fact that my phone now listens to whether I cough or snore in my sleep! Very cool technology things that I’m only just starting to interface with now.
-
Gold Class: I recently went to Village Cinemas Gold Class for the first time in my life - it was to watch Amsterdam like I told you a few weeks back. It was honestly such a weird experience to have so MUCH service at a cinema - I’m so much more used to just picking up food and walking straight into the cinema, not planning when I want to food to drop during a movie, eating hot food off plates, or being taken to a plush, reclining seat! A really interesting service that I probably wouldn’t pay for (I had free tickets) but I can definitely see the value in it.
-
Halloween: I went to the company Halloween party recently and, while I’m not usually a costume guy, shout out to my man Jeff who was able to help me knock together our Mean Girls costumes below - prepare your eyeballs!:

- Most of my hobbies are on pause at the moment - a combination of a lack of motivation, and getting my health and exercise back in order first. I’ve also come to think that I need to pull things that I like and enjoy already back into the fold. A recent realisation I had was to live a bit more of my truth as a nerdy boardgame boi - if I love playing games, why aren’t I playing them all the damn time?? If I love role-playing why aren’t I playing DnD all the time!?? If only these hobbies didn’t rely on other people to do :(

-
Decision to Leave - by Park Chan-wook. This was a fantastically weird Korean film - about a detective who kinda falls in love with a girl who is a suspect in her husband’s murder. The story and plot goes to crazy places, but the cinematography and filmography is fantastic - the way they show different technologies, the way they build suspense, the shots from above, into mirrors, focusing in and out - I really liked watching it from that perspective. Highly recommended for the mystery vibes - it’s a bit slow, but worth a watch!
-
A Life with Footnotes - a biography of Terry Pratchett, finished by his assistant Rob Wilkins. It’s really just one for the lovers of his works - it was really fun to read about how he became an author, what he liked, how he grew up, adapted to his fame (he didn’t) and how he created his best works. I miss reading his stuff - time to dive back into Discworld! Recommended :)
