158 - Decipher my dream π΄π
Hey there, !
Like Nebuchadnezzar in the biblical story, I’m looking for a Daniel to decipher my dream. Or Pharoah looking for Joseph and some dream with fat and skinny cows.
Not sure why these references are all biblical…βοΈπ
I don’t often remember my dreams, but when I do I try to write it all down when I wake up, as soon as I can.
Please forgive any weird phrasing! Hope DALL-E dreaming helps with the deciphering…
In the dream:
A set of children were held underground in a facility with highly regimented and disciplined days. Many times, rebellious teens would try to break free but could not - they would be captured and taken back.
Vince though, does get out! By lashing out at a cafeteria, and being taken to the upstairs detention area, he slips away through some vents and with some quick thinking, is able to slip out of the door.
He runs to the nearby mall where he spots an old friend from Chinese school and explains what he needs. They try to go somewhere closer to other people to draw some more attention, but are pursued by facility guards. When they approach, Vince loudly asks them to fuck off and alerts police nearby to see what’s happening - and scares them off.
This old friend takes Vince to a family of superpowered humans which are actually plot twist his real family - a lost aunt is able to identify his lineage. She uses jaguar-related superpowers to do…something (I can’t remember what it was). Some male relative sets up a powerful force field to shield them from view using some other animal powers (maybe an owl?).
Vince then travels to Santiago Chile to try and get as far away from the facility as far as possible while also developing his own powers (though the animal this was related to was not clear).
Instead, Vince had an idea to try and destroy the facility using a coded virus “Unicorn Power” (so I guess I had unicorn powers?) but dream ended here.
^ the cutest thing that DALL-E made for me!

βοΈReal Life Recommendations
-
Golden Dragon Palace - a yumcha place in Doncaster that I have for the longest time avoided because it’s expensive for what it is, but due to Daddy Dan’s Entertainment program went recently. It’s good! Like above average quality dimsum and the vibe is really nice. Highly recommended!
-
Nimbo - a new asian dessert place that just opened up in Hardware Lane that’s affiliated with a kinda new network of asian dessert places (i.e. Kori). It does some fantastically fresh and delicious bingsu’s, and the ice cream sandwich we had was using Kori ice cream! I need to go back to try the toasts that they’ve got on offer (kind of like french toasts I think?) but I actually really rate their bingsu’s and the newer, weirder flavours that were there. Grab it if you’re in the city!

Don’t confuse optionality and safety nets - a terrifyingly real read that forced me to confront my own habits and patterns - collecting low cost options for life seems like a great thing (you never have to commit, and fail in an option), but it means you don’t take bigger risks with higher costs that come with higher potentialrewards. And in actual fact, those low cost options may have a cumulatively larger cost to your life…

Why A4? - sometimes, maths is really cool and very relevant to things we do in our everyday lives :D

Are you a baby? - in which a great framework for working out if you just need to grow up and stop being a baby in certain social situations. Featuring a classic 2x2 strategy framework but using psychological concepts (selfish/agreeable vs. active/avoidant). Fantastic!
