I’ve turned 30 this month.
It has felt…bittersweet.
On the one hand, I genuinely can’t believe I’ve gotten this far. On the other hand, I can’t believe I got this far just to see this country being systematically dismantled in a dictatorial race to kill marginalized people for having the audacity to…exist?
And I know we’re all tired of talking about it, hell, I’m tired of having to live it but I can’t help but think that this is the calm before a very ugly storm and we only have a short window of time before things get truly dire.
The one thing that does get me through each day though, is seeing other people do good work. Whether it’s art, mutual aid, or just helping someone move. Small acts of goodwill always move me to believe that the world is not all bad and that we can and should continue to care for each other because we’re all we have. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still preparing for the worst of it but I am taking those small acts of goodwill and storing it in my heart for the future.
We’re going to need it.
What I’m Working On Next
A short story! I plan on uploading it and the narrated audio on my Ko-Fi (whenever I get that set up!)
A podcast—one that I’ve worked on for three years now actually. It’s called Overbrook and it’s about two best friends living in a small town filled with horrors. I’ve been steadily working on the final season so that it will be released…sometime this year. (Listen, these things take time, okay?)
And a movie! With a friend of course. It’s going to be a fun horror-rom-comedy starred by yours truly. If we’re lucky, we might even get to film it!
