December 2024 Roundup

December has been a month of non-stop work. I have been in a constant state of creation in a way that I have quite literally never done before. I spent days jumping from one task to another, from the moment I wake up until the minute I pass out. To put it simply: I’m exhausted. But I’m also enjoying myself! Being able to create stories that resonate with people (even if it’s like one, or two people at most) is incredibly fulfilling. I don’t know if I would continue to do this if I didn’t like what I was doing.
But what does this mean for YOU, oh reader? It means updates.
The first is this:
I have a YouTube channel!
…This largely happened by accident. I was fooling around on TikTok, making videos about being a D&D merchant NPC (because we all have at least one in our campaigns), when my account started to really grow! It’s kind of surreal. Unfortunately, with the upcoming ban on TikTok, I’ve had to start a YouTube channel to continue the magical shenanigans for those interested in my skits. But of course, my channel won’t ONLY be about D&D–I’ve got some fun videos already planned for the new year! (Looks like it was a really good thing I took that comedy writing class last year!)
And because I have a YouTube…
I started a merch business!
Okay, actually, I’ve had this merch business unofficially since August. It started off as making merch for audio dramas and podcasts (because I am nothing if not a fan of podcasts), but because of TikTok, I’ve decided to expand to more than just podcast merch. I’ll be making merch based on my own books and YouTube skits as well.
It’ll start off small–stickers, and lanyards, and maybe a postcard or two, but over time, I’m hoping to expand to apparel. Since I’m making all of the designs, interfacing with manufacturers, shipping and customer service, I am so very busy that I have to segment my days between business and writing. Like I said–I’m exhausted. But also very inspired and excited! I’ve always admired the exhibitors in Artist Alley at comic conventions, hoping one day to join their ranks. Can’t believe that day is actually soon. Life comes at you fast, huh?
Bigger Pond shop is currently closed while I make some updates and add new merch, but it’ll be back in the new year!
What else are you working on?
Many things. Oh so many things. I’m revising my next novel (which unfortunately won’t be ready in time to launch in 2025–so stay tuned for 2026!), I’m writing my first movie with a friend, and I’m making a spin-off of my second horror novel, We Don’t Swim Here. But not in book form, no–this will be in podcast form. The spin-off will be about the Ghost Bus that was briefly mentioned in the book. I plan on crowdfunding the initial costs, and cannot wait to bring it to you!
Alright, back to the grindstone. See you next year!
