April 2025 Roundup

First thing’s first: A sincere apology for skipping March’s roundup. In my defense, I was mentally preparing myself to undergo surgery and was unable to come up with anything to say other than “I’M SCARED, I’M NERVOUS, I’M EXCITED.”
That’s because I was undergoing ✨ top surgery 💫*!*
For those of you that don’t know, top surgery is often called chest feminization or chest masculinization surgery because it reshapes your chest to look either feminine or masculine. In my case, I was going for a flatter look which became chest masculinization surgery. This surgery was booked months in advanced, and I was wholeheartedly unsure about whether I’d go through with it—but the closer I got to the day, the more I wanted to get it over with.
After all, the worst part of surgery isn’t always the surgery—it’s the healing process. Taking time off of anything just to sit around and wait for your cells to reconstruct themselves into tissues just sucks. It’s unpleasant, it messes with your conception of independence, and you enter a sort of timeless agony that feel like it will last forever. Every second is a century, every century is an existence that you start to hate yourself for doing this to yourself.
But then, the bandages come off. Then you regain your range of motion. Then you realize how badly you needed this. And suddenly, you remember what joy feels like.
Anyway, that was my whole April! How was yours?
Upcoming Events:
May 3, 2025 - I will be at the Bucks County Book Festival in Broad Commons Park all day, but especially from 3pm to 3:30pm for the Strange Realms (Horror/Scifi) Panel, where I’ll be in talks with other authors about our creative processes and what draws us to the strange and horrific.
