I've been trying to write this newsletter for a few weeks. I kept getting derailed by trying to write up a bite-sized introduction to Mormon priesthood first, so I could explain what order & office of the priesthood my father held (holds) before I launched into an explanation about father's blessings.

The priesthood mini-lesson turned into its own post. I didn't send it to subscribers, but it's accessible in my archives here: Mormon Priesthood Mini Lesson. Take "mini" with a grain of salt, but I really did condense a LOT.

It contains a run down on the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthood orders and their offices. Mormon men can receive the first level & office of the priesthood at age 11, the year they are turning 12.

It also contains an explanation about the different kinds of priesthood blessings members (and non-members) can receive from Melchizedek priesthood holders.
