Initial Implementation of Creator to Subscriber Data Distribution
One of the core functionalities of Mapkind GPS on the web is to serve as a data distribution system for creators. Our app can be used to manage personal data, but it is also designed for creators to present their navigation data to their viewers gated by subscription levels. This week, we introduced this functionality to the mobile GPS app, bringing it into alignment with the web interface.
If you've followed venture4wd over the years, you might recall that I offered my GPX files for download to my Patreon subscribers, which they were able to access via Dropbox or my website. While effective, this was a clunky and user-hostile distribution system that demanded a fundamental understanding of the GPX format and file systems.
With Mapkind GPS, access is immediate and visual. The creator retains ownership of their data, and has complete control of tier configurations through their subscription provider (such as Patreon).
Creators are vetted before they may use this distribution system. We don't believe in gatekeeping, we believe in educating. Those creators who demonstrate tasteful storytelling and responsible land use are welcome to use our distribution system!
