“real diary hours only”
the figure’s face up there was supposed to look a bit more warped… the flat colors made it look too normal, or like one eye is randomly bigger than the other b/c i can’t draw. but it’s sunday, and so that’s just how it is now.
i read this article this morning on bechdel’s “are you my mother?” & psychoanalysis, i came across it because i have been trying to find out if there’s scholars talking about comics in similar ways to feminist psychoanalyst approaches to film in the 70s. i am wondering if/how comics can be thought as a fantasy space, or if it’s possible to apply the concept of a “gaze” to them… film seems like a much more seductive spectacle than comics, though of course comics can be seductive, too. but the fact that a reader moves through comics on their own time is a big factor- rereading and rewinding time can work both towards constructing a fantasy space and deconstructing narratives… mhhh… still undecided.
anyways please only contact me via carrier pigeon from now on! ;^o
