Wars, crisis and robot soldiers
Hi folks, it was a busy week at work and outside, with lack of sleep peppered all throughout.
Let’s talk about outside of work this week; I have been busy meeting people, chatting, and doing small home improvements in Delhi. Out of which, the former is more interesting.
Whoever I meet these days, seems to be affected by the gas shortages owing to the American/Israeli war of choice with Iran1. Despite government assurances, people around me are all thinking of buying or dusting off the single induction cooktops that they bought years ago.
I hope some end up sticking with the induction. Maybe there is a tiny silver lining somewhere.
Anyway, because war is often a topic of discussion these days, it is interesting to see some people claim having insider knowledge or a better understanding of geopolitics than the experts in the field with years of experience closely reporting or working in political circles. Often the more absurd a take, the more confident the person presenting it.
Maybe it is just Indians being Indians.
But more interesting than that, was something I heard (then read about) today. A US company is testing humanoid robot soldiers in the frontlines in Ukraine.
Now, like, right now. Already.
I guess seeing Terminators come to life was something I was supposed to see within my lifetime. I would not have believed this just 5 years ago, even with the fancy boston dynamics videos.
Let’s hope that these senseless wars end soon.

1: I will talk about politics in this newsletter, like my other platforms.
Everything is politics, it is just that some of our political choices are deliberate, others are made by our privilege or the lack of it.
