Uneventful

I have been thinking about what to write this week. Not much from work that is relevant for the post here, nor from outside that is worth mentioning. Apart from the fact that I went deep into hobby flying youtube and the world of Cessnas, Cirruses, Pipers and Kit-planes.

So this is it for this section this time around.

Interesting reads

  1. The solution might be cancelling my AI subscription
And I for one, did. I realised back in Jan that I was sacrificing my sleep, health and attention constantly trying to token-max and building things that I didn’t need, or wasn’t ready to ship or even host anywhere. So I cancelled my claude plan. Now the only subscription that I have is opencode go with open models, which help me write tests, change translations and cover missing non-happy paths at the job, and work on side projects when I need it.

  2. Rothschild’s Giraffe
TIL. Not a Rothschild’s personal giraffe, but a giraffe named after the family. Not a researcher, or a wildlife expert. Just a wealthy connoisseur. Still, in the year 2026

  3. The Pope on Defederation
Something about the interaction and interdependence of federated networks.

A project I discovered

Generative Pen-trained Transformer

Generative Pen-trained Transformer - Teddy Warner

Have a hard time deciding what to hang on your walls? Boy, do I have the solution for you.

Not the normal kind of project I share, but so very interesting and absolutely cool.

A photo I took

The photos I took were all quite personal this week, so here is a photo from the same time 2 years ago.

A glass building with a sharp edge exaggerated by the angle the photo was taken at. It sits in foreground of a bright blue sky with summer white clouds
A spear in the sky

Since the week’s issue was quite late, I’m setting a fixed deadline for myself, and perhaps a nice schedule for readers from next week. You can expect the next issues to arrive in your inbox Sundays at 10:00 CET.
