Time is the real currency

Hi there, someone created vibe coded agentically engineered clones of the main Adobe suite, from scratch. And early reviews seem actually good.

It makes you wonder what is SAAS anymore anyway, but Adobe has such bad karma accumulated over all these years, that I’m actually glad to see this. Also, rest in peace Photopea.

You hear such news every other day; a new, or rather many new models prop up every single week. The pace of these developments is simply mad. Claude code is just over a year old, and the latest round of actually good models, which started in November 2025, are not even a year old. For a large group of engineers and builders, the FOMO is quite real.

There are a lot of ideas to build on, but time is still limited in a day. Specially if you take a step back and think on what is important in the course of one’s life. Should you spend time building when you could exercise; cook good food; be with family and friends; read a book?

I haven’t been building a lot these past couple of months.

I do some tinkering here and there, like rejuvenating the laptop last week, or running an old c# project from 2011, that I spent some time yesterday on. But not really dedicated slots of time. On the tinkering, or on getting the products that I am building to a beta stage.

My energy was quite high right after the local first conference. But I realised that a lot of it can go at work even if you aren’t doing overtime.

In addition to that, just like when the LLMs weren’t there, the real currency is time and your choice where you want to spend it.

Looking at how the rest of the year looks, I wouldn’t say I’ll get to dedicate a slot for building. I’d rather have a good work/no-work balance. The projects I wanted to over a certain milestone will just go slower than I would have liked. And that’s fine.

Book I want to read

Circe, by Madeline Miller

Circe by Madeline Miller | Goodreads

In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of…

My wife recently recommended this with a very nice introduction to the book. I think I will definitely pick this up this winter. It feels my kind of read

Interesting reads

  1. Yes, and …
For me, it has been very simply since the start of this AI ‘revolution’, whatever you want to get better at, you should do yourself. AI unlocks speed, but the brain needs effort to learn things

  2. I hired an artist to draw my house, now it is my home assistant dashboard

  3. You deserve better from social media
Remember Orkut? The founder wants to bring it back

A project I discovered

Interfaces that sound as good as they feel.

Cuelume. Interaction sounds for the web

Cuelume is a tiny, dependency-free library of carefully designed interaction sounds, synthesized live with Web Audio.

This project brought an instant smile on my face, in fact. I love all the projects by Daniel White. Well crafted tools with crystal clear use cases.

A photo I took

A view of the street just after sunset opening to a sky filled with a rolling wave of grey clouds. (It really looks like a wave). There are yellow street lights, with tram lines on the street, a glass building on the left and an elevated train line structure on the right
Clouds loom over

Welcome new readers, see you next week! ✌🏽
