Events: May 2026
Hey y’all. I once again just got back from a week in New York. Before I go back once again, here’s a quick update about an exciting show my work will be a part of, and a few other notes about what I’m up to.

Hearth and Home @ Third Story Gallery
Sunday, May 17th from 6—9pm at Third Story Gallery in Bushwick.
Opening date moved! Please join me at PushUp Gallery on Saturday, May 16th from 6-9pm. PushUp Gallery is located at 94 Bogart Street on the ground level, just a block from the Morgan Avenue L train station.

I’m pleased to announce my work will show in another gallery, alongside work from several other artists as part of NYC’s inaugural Trans Art Fest in a show titled Hearth and Home.
The aim of the exhibition is to reframe the conception of a home- a place of sanctuary, to a thing that is practiced, embodied instead of a location. It is born of the people we love, the communities that we build and maintain, and the rituals that we inherit, amend, and begin.
I’ll be presenting two photographs in this show. One shows a ritual of becoming one’s self as built into a physical space. It is a beautiful subversion of a double-entendre I am honored to have been allowed to see and to capture. Another helps me tell a story of a place where I found safety when I deeply needed it, where I was welcomed into a family I didn’t know that I had.
I’m very proud of the chance to exhibit these photos of people I love, who made me feel so safe in this world, at a gallery show in a place I didn’t expect to also find myself feeling so at home in.
If you’ll be in the New York City area, please come and see them. My pieces will hang until the end of May.
Places You Might See Me

Further, if you’re in town tomorrow night, go see Art X Text at Gallery 198 in Gowanus. There will be zine swap, plus a gallery show until the end of Sunday the 3rd. I hope to make it myself to see photos from the ongoing series “Trans People in Their Bedrooms” by Jäger of the wonderful Full Spectrum Photo Lab and Emily Zhou.
Or, if you can’t make it, swing by the launch party for Picnic Magazine’s second issue at Singers in Bed-Stuy, May 7th at 7pm.
If you see me around, please say “hi!”
In Other News
That aside, for all of May I’ll be in New York photographing everything as much as I can possibly afford to. If you have a favorite station, especially a particular view of an elevated line somewhere, send me an email, and I’ll try to do it justice. My task manager’s backlog is already absolutely filled with tickets, but surely one more won’t hurt. Anyway, thank you for reading.
XOXO, ClaireViolet
