This week's writing (6.16.23)
AI, comics, and an inconsequential mystery about Fort Worth.

This very small (boutique! handcrafted!) newsletter is very new and we as a global society hit peak newsletter sometime in the middle of 2021 so I genuinely appreciate everyone who has signed up so far for yet another newsletter.
I’m experimenting with different kinds of writing this summer, but I’m particularly interested in covering the cultural implications of things like generative AI, climate change, and whatever fresh hell is served up by our current stage (late? post? meta?) of capitalism.
Currently, I’m not making any money off this, though if enough people care about my writing I’ll consider adding a paid section for those who want to support and help me pay the rent. In the meantime, please consider sharing with your friends, family and enemies. Basically, if you know any people who like words, tell them about my words. Thanks.
This particular post is a round-up of all the writing I did last week. I’ll send these out on Fridays! My work is available wherever books are sold or at least in the following places:
Is this a dystopia yet?
Don't Buy Your Child a Robot Friend (Stop Gap)
Poetic brevity in the time of bullshit generators (Journal of Post American Studies)
Fort Worth
Investigating one of Fort Worth's least important mysteries. (Lost in Panther City)
The worst essay contest in American history (Lost in Panther City)
Books and Comics
Ordinary Despair: Tynan Stewart reviews Impossible People by Julia Wertz (SOLRAD)
A rundown of Julia Wertz’s comics (panthercitybooks)
A brief review of Brandon Taylor’s The Late Americans (panthercitybooks)
