In honor of this momentous occasion (and rarely has a week demanded it more), we recommend that you revisit our festschrift* for The Toast-- composed to mark the Toast’s closure in 2016-- and spend the weekend re-reading our favorite pieces and tweeting us links to yours. We have all earned a little restorative time in the Before in order to keep fighting against the ravages of the After.
*A festschrift is a term used almost exclusively by academics and cataloging librarians, and it refers to a collection of papers assembled and published to celebrate the legacy of a particular figure.
