New Backerkit, Heroes released

The cover to Sisterhood of the Splintered Bone: the Malefodora nurses a skeleton; fern cats flit about

TLDR: I’m launching a Backerkit for two funnels statted for DCC & Shadowdark

It’s been awhile, folks, since I emailed you, so if you suspect I have something to promote, you ARE correct.

I’m launching a new Backerkit next week (pending approvals, etc) for a single volume containing two level-0 funnels for DCC & Shadowdark.

Promotion to follow

In Sisterhood of the Splintered Bone, you play as a lowly leek farmer on a desolate ice planet run by the bones-obsessed nuns of the Sisterhood. Your chance at glory has arrived when heretics steal the sainted knuckles of your patron Garwynne. Armed with your wits whatever rusty weapons you can find, you must set forth into the haunted mushroom forests and contend with something far older than even the dusty bones your masters venerate.

In
This Rose Will Never Die, you play as clone meat for the royal family. Earn passage off-world competing in a tournament in honor of Queen Wunda, and escape a society where death is often not the end and the most important act one can commit is to leave a good-looking corpse.

Inspired by The Locked Tomb, Zothique, Steven Universe, and Alan Moore's Swamp Thing

What else

  • My last crowdfunder, for Amazing Adventures in the Public Domain is now out on DriveThru, Itch, and CthulhuDice as a PDF. I am working on the POD version for DriveThru and I will be posting the remaining offset prints on my Etsy (this is multichannel retailing)

  • I will be writing an email detailing the finances of Kickstarting it and the mistakes I made because, frankly, I like to read that kind of thing and hopefully someone else will. Spoiler alert, perhaps, I lost maybe a hundred odd dollars despite raising about $800.

  • Home gaming is going great. I’m playing a Greymalkin in a game of Dolmenwood (which just rules so much) and running a game of Break!. We just played through an adventure originally intended for Errant called The Curse of the Ganshoggr.

  • I want to return to solo gaming! I played a little of Heinrich’s Guide to Carcosa last year, and a little solo-OSE trek into Castle Amber. It’s just hard to find the time.

  • Up next after these funnels on Backerkit? I will be releasing some Call of Cthulhu/Cthulhu Eternal modules. I have two that have been percolating. One is set in the far future and if I wanted to make some money I’d probably write it for Mothership or Stars Without Number, but I can’t help but homage Ripples of Carcosa. IYKYK

  • The funnels are part of a larger setting that I want to produce a bunch of material for, in anticipation of a book-length dungeon called A Perilous House. This is already written, but I want to be able to print it with a lot of art and as a hardcover so I need to wait until I think I can raise that much money, an order of magnitude more than has been raised and sold in the previous couple years of doing these books.

  • There’s also some more DCC stuff in my head. I can sell the DCC Day quickies that I wrote last year, but I’d like to expand the material into kind of a mini-campaign featuring all the Weird Wizard lairs that I hinted at in those freebies.

It’s my intention to write more emails this coming year, and hopefully I’ll spend the next one giving you some lore details on A Perilous House and celebrating a successful crowdfunding.

    Backerkit link, again
