Coming real soon: DCC Day

I’ve just updated the website with info about our two DCC Day releases (Safeworm and Uncertain Romance at the Violet Manse). Hopefully we can all make it to a participating retailer on July 19th and support Goodman Games!

The big mommas themselves put a preview up on their website, so check it out when you have a moment:

There’s two 4 page PDFs up there for free.

Right after: Heroes of the public domain

I’ve got the next thing playtested and am working on layout/art for it. It’s a combination rules supplement and adventure module. The pitch is basically: Merlin has gathered heroes from across time and space to fight little points of evil.

I’ve got rules for playing as: Stardust, Achilles, the Black Terror, the Atomic Skull, the Phantom Lady, Dorothy Gale, and Santa Claus.

There’s a starter adventure where you match wits with Murder Legendre, the villain from White Zombie, and possibly some other evil wizards.

Super pulpy and fun, inspired by stuff like Alan Moore’s Supreme, Planetary and the other Wold Newton descended toybox material.

A little further: Sisterhood of the Splintered Bone

This is written and playtested. It’s a funnel meant to introduce a whole new setting. I intend to give it away for free, as an accompaniment for a larger, fun dungeon.

The setting is primarily inspired by the Locked Tomb books as well as the Arthurian mythos and Clark Ashton Smith. I seasoned it with Steven Universe, Swamp Thing, and the cassette futurism of Andor (or the cassette presentism of Disco Elysium).

That reads a little insane but I promise it’s a cohesive whole. Perhaps the product of a little too much dungeon synth played on a terrible boombox.

Other updates

Aside from playtesting this stuff, I switched jobs which has made gaming a real trick lately. I am actually praying that things settle down soon. I did go to GaryCon, where I played in a bunch of fun games (old favorites like DCC, Call of Cthulhu, etc) Shout out to the guys I played the Dark Tower board game with (came with a commemorative print)! Also shout out to Grimsbury, a mod-folk-horror game that the creator ran.

Ok. That’s a lot. I hope to talk to you all sooner. I’m going to try and kickstart Heroes of the Public Domain so look forward to getting email blasted again in a couple of weeks.

Also! Go to DCC Day!

Happy gaming,

Matt
