LAST DAYS to apply to the Turing Way Book Dash - May edition 🌸

Explore The Turing Way Book and connect with us via our start page.

Applications are open for The Turing Way Book Dash: 18 & 19 May 2026

Every edition of the Book Dash, something quietly remarkable happens: old friends, colleagues, and people who have never met sit down together (virtually, in-person, across time zones, across career stages) and make magic happen. And applications for the May 2026 edition are now open!

What is it? The Book Dash is a two-day collaborative sprint, where contributors come together to write, edit, illustrate, review, and improve The Turing Way.

Where is it? Taking place online on 18 & 19 May 2026 and in-person at DANS the Hague on 20 May

It closes with community share-out sessions on 22 May, where we celebrate what's been built.

Who should apply? You! Whether you've been to a Book Dash before or you've just discovered the project, there is a place for you here. We're looking for people who want to contribute and get more involved in The Turing Way. That might mean writing a new chapter, editing an existing one, improving how the book looks online, documenting stories and illustrations, or bringing your expertise in project design, reproducibility, or science communication.

As a previous attendee put it: "Everyone has something to share, that's the special sauce of the project."
Returning participants are especially encouraged to apply as mentors and hosts, supporting newer contributors and shaping the sessions.

Key dates:

  • Application deadline: 27 April 2026

  • Decisions communicated: by 5 May 2026

  • Onboarding and GitHub skill-up calls: week of 11 May 2026

  • Book Dash: 18 & 19 May 2026 (online), 20 May 2026 (in-person, Netherlands)

  • Community share-outs: 22 May 2026

Most of the event will take place online, with multiple session slots designed to work across time zones.

New to GitHub? There's a dedicated skill-up session. Never been to a Book Dash? There's onboarding. Not sure if your skills are the right fit? They probably are.
The application takes 15–30 minutes. You can draft your answers using this template before you submit. The deadline is 27 April 2026 (midnight, anywhere on Earth).
