Attend the Turing's Annual AI-UK (21-22 March)
AI-UK is the UK's national showcase of data science and artificial intelligence (AI). Hosted by The Alan Turing Institute, AI UK 2023 will be an in-depth exploration of how data science and AI can be used to solve real-world challenges.
The Turing Way will have a booth at AI-UK this year led by the core team members, Emma Karoune, Anne Lee Steele, Esther Plomp, Vicky Hellon and Eirini Zormpa. They will feature several interactive sessions to guide attendees through the project, showcase select chapters, and share more about our open ways of working. The Turing Way members, Malvika Sharan and Bea Costa Gomez are hosting a panel with Kirstie Whitaker, Monica Granados and Mark Richards in the 'Research Stage'.
Learn more about this event here, and grab your ticket -- we hope you will join us either in person or online!
Join us at the State of the Open Con (7-8 February)
Hosted by OpenUK in association with IEEE, State of the Open Con is the UK's first open technology conference.
Malvika Sharan will be speaking about "Investing in Research Infrastructure Roles for Cultural Change", and Emma Karoune and Anne Lee Steele will be organising an information booth at the conference. If you are attending, do stop by to learn more about The Turing Way project, and to meet a few members of the team!
See the schedule and register for the conference - there are some free community tickets that you can request by emailing the organisers.
Upcoming events
📅 Check out our centralised event document to learn more about what is happening in the community.
We would love to receive ideas for events you would like to organise with The Turing Way team and suggestions for community events our community members should attend.
✨ If you are attending an event and would like to meet folks from across the community, please include that in this shared pad.
Recurring Community Calls ☕
All are welcome to these calls, no sign-up is needed! ✨
- Collaboration Cafe: The next calls are on 1 & 15 February, 14:00-16:00 UTC (see in your time zone).
Feel free to drop in to meet the community, do some focused writing, or otherwise -- see this HackMD for more information.
- Translation and Localisation Weekly Meetings: every Tuesday at 16:00 UTC (in your time zone). These calls are for co-working on translation and localisation efforts across several languages, and for learning more about the work of the team -- see this HackMD for more information.
- Community Chats: every last Friday of the month (usually), 15:00-16:00 UTC (see in your timezone). This year, we will alternate between fireside chats in a panel format and a themed community conversation. Stay tuned for our first fireside chat of the year... coming soon in February!
- Office Hours: As we plan for our 2023 community calls, we are closing our weekly office hours for now. You can always schedule time in my Calendly to chat. Thanks for bringing your questions to these calls, and for joining me (Anne) in many conversations about open science!
