Tris Talks... November Newsletter!
Where did November go…?
It’s the evening of November 30th, and I’m wondering: where did the month go?
It feels like yesterday that I was getting ready for a busy vacation. We saw Enter the Haggis in Saratoga on November 2nd, then hit the road for Nashville on the 4th. We spent several days there, then off to Alabama for a wedding, then a road trip home.
Of course, nothing is that simple. Husband came home with a stomach bug, that later morphed into bronchitis (still IS bronchitis). Work has been exceedingly chaotic. And of course—here in the States was our holiday feasting weekend.
In non-writing things, other than handling several work emergencies, I did manage to finish a blanket I’ve been knitting for two years, and bound off a felted bag (and felted it today!) that now needs all the sewing parts to be done. I will have a hell of a backpack for Rhinebeck next year. It will fit so much yarn.
Anyway. It feels like I blinked and November was gone. I thought things would slow down when we returned from vacation, but it continues to feel like one thing after another. There have been some very good things (like seeing a friend I hadn’t seen in a few years). But I’m also ready for some relaxation time. And time to get ready for upcoming gifting holidays!
Things published…
Hah. Hahahahahahahah. Yeah, no, nothing happened in the publishing realm. I did receive my author copy of Yay! All queer, but that’s not new news. I had a lot of thoughts about blog posts I wanted to write, but never managed to wrangle the brain to do it.
Keep an eye on my socials if you’re curious. I’m probably going to even be publicly political, which is something I rarely do. I have a lot of thoughts about things right now and am trying not to let that strangle me even more than everything else already does.
Some of my thoughts should be expected and obvious. All y’all already know what I write. <3
Progress made in the writing realms…
I finished the second round edits for Missed Fortunes, and received the first 4 (out of 10) sections of Into the Split for first round revisions (I’ve finished one of those so far). You may remember that I did a zeroth revision with some major rewriting of parts already, so this is the first big set of editorial comments.
As usual, editing kills my writing vibe. And trying to cram editing into a couple hours a week isn’t working well at all—it takes a lot longer than that.
Anyway. In December I’m hoping to find a way to better streamline the edit for ITS, and get through what’s ready for me, so I can open my brain up to potentially do a little drafting over the holiday break. Fingers crossed. I’m not sure I’ll have time because there will be a lot of family and house stuff going on, too!
I really do spend a lot of time daydreaming about retirement these days.
Things of the future…
I don’t have any new publications to look out for, but I’d certainly like to spend some time drafting so I will.
I’ll be at Boskone in February, and Balticon in May. If you plan to go to either convention, please come say hello! I’m still working on the rest of my convention schedule for 2025.
I am also working on my photography again, and will be setting up new items for sale on Redbubble and Society6, along with getting things together so that I can have items other than books if I do markets (yay!).
In conclusion…
If you’re curious to see snippets as I work, all levels of my Patreon are treated to early chapters of PHU when it is posting, as well as behind-the-scenes looks at works in progress.
And find me on social media if you want to chit-chat or just hear me natter on about life, writing, and fandom. I’m tryslora everywhere!
