That’s Why Mums Go To Switzerland
Written and performed by Bonnie Oddie
Directed by Steve Medlin
Three generations of pissed off women, together under one roof. Airing her dirty laundry in public, Bonnie uses a moving combination of conversational and physical language to explore her experience of becoming a ‘bad’ mother and a ‘bad’ daughter at the same time, asking herself the question “Exactly how much did I ‘help’ my mum die?” Expect funny, sad and maybe funny again.
Bonnie Oddie
Mother of two daughters, Bonnie originally trained as a dancer and has enjoyed a career as a choreographer, performer and teacher. More recently she collaborated with philosophy teacher Miriam Cohen in co creating ‘Adventures in I Don’t Know’ workshops designed for all kinds of people, that engage in genuine inquiry and bring to light our relationship with uncertainty and the physical experience of “I don’t know.” Since her appearances at True Story London she has been writing more and more and looks forward to developing her observational, witty and reflective voice for stage, film and any other spaces.
METANOIA
Written & performed by TIHANE
At the precipice of an unknown world, technology and humanity fight for control over the fabric of reality. Who are we going to become? In the finite and infinite games of fate and free will, is there any chance that we can still find our way back into the heart of the game? To remember who we are? TIHANE tells the true story of a young woman whose mind is fragmenting across multiple dimensions and must face the mirror of her fears to find her way back home. Weaving together stories, music, dance and a visual art collaboration with producer/artist Segnon Tiewul, Metanoia is an immersive mixed media journey, raising questions of future, past and eternity.
TIHANE is a performing artist, public speaker and creative consultant who focuses on immersive storytelling experiences that awaken and empower. After studying with the Stella Adler Studio NYC, she spent a decade across America and Africa, collaborating with New York Fashion Week, RevoltTV, Vogue Italia, speaking at TEDx & Yale University and performing for BBC Introducing, SXSW and others. Tihane cites her Polynesian Croatian background, nomadic upbringing and many years in Kenya, as sources of inspiration in cultivating creative experiences that bridge divides.
Inspired by the transformational power of storytelling inherited through her Indigenous culture, TIHANE has a unique gift for unearthing the heart of a story. From the arts/entertainment industry to Education, from wellness to business and beyond, she is driven by the art and science of creating distinctly magnetic and soulful mixed media experiences.
