Pics from LIVE show, summer show recs, & DRAFT Workshops
Hello True Story people, thank you so much for making our June 15th LIVE show so magical! (And purple!)

We heard a fantastic array of true stories — from self-discovery and resilience in the face of an unsettling diagnosis, to navigating dental anxiety during the pandemic; a moving look into the inner workings of the UK Coastguard during a crisis; the journey from being privately fostered to reclaiming and fully stepping into one's identity; holding on to memories as a hometown in China is transformed beyond recognition in the name of progress; skydiving to prove a point; and a beautifully connective musical performance from TIHANE.
Thank you to our storytellers Abi Osho, Ben Parker, Martha McBrier, Monica Clemo, Namrata, Shao Tan, TIHANE and our always fabulous MC Victoria Dry.
It was a true joy to spend the evening with you celebrating storytelling and True Story’s 7th birthday 🎂 — what a great vibe, let’s do it again soon…
STORYTELLERS’ SUMMER SHOWS
Storytellers you may recognise from the True Story stage are performing their own shows this summer in London. Here are a couple we think you should definitely check out:
THAT’S WHY MUMS GO TO SWITZERLAND - Bonnie Oddie July 3, 4, 5 at Upstairs at the Gatehouse

Three generations of pissed-off women living together under one roof, and a trip to Dignitas. A raw, sharply funny look at a family in chaos. A marriage breakdown, teenage upheaval, dependency, love (“whatever that is”), a mother loudly preparing for the end, and “the joys of becoming a bad mother and a bad daughter at exactly the same time”. Winner: Best Solo Show at Riverside Studios Bitesize Festival
WIFE MATERIAL - Heleana & Sophia Blackwell
Saturday 11th July, 5pm, The Queer Comedy Club, London
Book Here
First comes love, then comes equal marriage! Heleana is a planner. Sophia is a poet. The ‘dynamic married duo,’ (Broadway Baby) are here to answer all the big questions: how do you get your parents high by accident? What does it feel like to be kink-shamed by your bank? And if Will Smith wrote a rap about financial advice inspired by Martin Lewis, what on earth would that sound like? A celebration of love, equality and eccentricity from both sides.
JULY DRAFT WORKSHOPS
Our monthly DRAFT storytelling workshops continue through the summer if you fancy sharing, listening, and giving feedback on early drafts of true stories in a relaxed friendly setting. Join as either a listener or storyteller for a fun social night of storytelling.
Next in-person workshop: Monday 6th July, 7pm - Book Here
Next virtual Zoom workshop: Wednesday 8th July, 7pm - Book Here
