BONUS: My favorite things I got for free from the LA Times Festival of Books
I was almost trampled to death at the Ripped Bodice tent but it was all worth it
My dear readers I have for you today a special bonus dispatch from the LA Times Festival of Books! This was my first year getting to go (due to three years ago I didn’t know it existed and the last two years I just kind of forgot it was happening) and it ruled. I asked a friend who had been if there was a lot of free stuff there and she said not really which I heard as a personal challenge to hoover up the most free stuff imaginable.
Here’s a visual representation of my treasures (please don’t look at or comment on the giant wheel in the corner.
Ok fine it’s for my cat for exercise because the vet keeps calling him fat I don’t want to talk about this.
Ok, YES, he DOES use it but only when I’m dangling a treat directly in front of his face which I’m worried negates any calorie-burning associated with the wheel use. Can we PLEASE get back to the book stuff now, god):

One Million Bookmarks
I don’t really need bookmarks because I have a tendency to mark my place with whatever’s around, which is usually the library return slip or like, a utility bill or something. But I have started collecting them for some unknown reason. I keep them on my mantle displayed in a ceramic mug with a ghost on it that says “Que Spooky.” You didn’t need this much info ok here are all the bookmarks I got.

Pantages Theater tote and sticker
This is mostly significant to me because I have a friend who was obsessed with the way Christian Bale says “my stage at the PANTAGES” in the movie The Prestige so now I’m saddled with a random attachment to the Pantages for my life (even though this isn’t even the same one? Because that movie was set in Victorian London? Nonetheless).

Libro-dot-fm holographic sticker
Look how cute this guy is. AND holographic??? 10 stars.
LA Times Sellout Poster
Look at this poster. Would you believe I got this for the no money price of free just for whatever it is I’ve been accidentally paying for the LA Times, possibly for years? I also got a pin and some sunflower seeds from the LA Times’ plant vertical specifically! It pays to accidentally have had a LA Times subscription when you end up at an LA Times event is what I’m saying.

Highlights Magazine bag
I need to emphasize that I have negative charisma in all areas of life except I guess when it comes to charming the people at the Highlights Magazine booth out of this bag which is now my most prized possession. LOOK AT IT.

Ok that’s it for this special bonus dispatch. See you guys next Sunday when I talk about how Gone Girl was right or Great Idiots of Literature or whatever I’m up to that day.
xoxo
