FYI – Uniqlo relaunched their online shop

Uniqlo, one of my most favourite fashion retailers, just did a relaunch of their website. Just take a look (it’s a GIF that might take a while to load) –

A quick look at the new shop and approach

Some interesting observations:

  • The homepage is consists of full-screen carousels and sliders.

  • The navigation is split between the traditional navigation and a more abstract bottom menu like a tab bar or collection of floating buttons.

  • The category selection is quite high, with dedicated thumbnails and transition animations.

  • Once you hit a collection or product detail page, everything looks “as usual”

In terms of the tech stack, it looks like these tools are used:

Looks like React.js is mainly used for the implementation. As before, they still heavily make use of Progressive Web App features. That’s why their iOS & Android App is an adapted version of the online shop.
