🎹 No. 11 Piano Day
No. 11
I delayed this week's newsletter until today, March 29, 2021, the 88th day of the year because it is World Piano Day. A day that I knew nothing about until this past week, but it is apparently a celebration of the instrument and the music it makes, marked on the 88th day of each year because the piano has 88 keys. The event was begun by Nils Frahm, a German pianist and composer, in 2015. If you'd like to celebrate, here are some suggestions.
To begin with, there is the Official Piano Day Playlist on Spotify.
Next, composer Simeon Walker picks his favorite piano music for World Piano Day for Classical Focus on BBC Sounds.
Then, there is Nils Frahm's Graz, an album of piano music released today.
Or, perhaps, 88 Keys by Akira Kosemura, another album of piano music released last week in honor of World Piano Day.
If enjoy piano music as much as me, then this is a nice treat.
