Tremendous content
Hello hello,
Well, it’s been a while. I hope you’re doing well. That you’re safe and warm and have cosy plans for your day.
One of the reasons I had for starting these letters was because I felt nostalgic for an internet I had loved. One with blogs and forums. With fewer ads and algorithms. I felt like social media, which started as fun, creative and full of connection, was changing in a way that I wasn’t into. I mean, who actually likes Facebook anymore?
(Fun fact, I only stay on Facebook because of 2 groups that I check in on regularly. One is only for UK-based owners of diabetic cats. I know. But this kind of niche community communication is exactly what the old forums were so good at, and it’ll be curious if that’s what keeps Facebook alive)
Now it seems that we’re experiencing the end of this era of social media. Whatever’s left after the billionaires have had their way, is going to be very different to what we’re used to.
All this to say, I want to start writing here more. Let’s say monthly. And before I do that, I want to give you a chance to decide if you want in or not. Lots has changed and you might not want these thoughts, ideas and links anymore. That’s ok. There’s an unsubscribe link below for exactly that reason. And if you stick around, awesome. Thank you. I’ll talk to you again soon.
