dermografia II - third men in the wilderness
Hello friend,
Welcome to the wilderness.
//happening
Last week my phone was taken when I was on the tube. It's one of those things that, I've always felt, was bound to happen sooner or later. It caused a fair amount of stress, panic and phone calls (I think we can all agree that phone calls are the worst) but it's sorted now. I was sans smartphone for less than a week.
The interesting thing was the enforced digital detox. I finished a book in a day, reading it on my commute and when I would usually be scrolling twitter before bed. You don't realise how often you reach for your phone, not physically but mentally - the thought kept occurring to me and then I'd remember it was gone.
On the flipside, I had no sense of time. I couldn't be as spontaneous. No changes to plans, no quick photos or short notes to let someone know you were thinking of them or had seen something you were sure would make them smile. No music when I was on the move.
