Join us for our first workshop on gender affirming voice care. This workshop is for people who would like to learn more about what the options are for modifying voice and communication to match genders. It covers what gender affirming voice work includes and how the voice works. You will be taught exercises to keep your voice healthy and do activities to explore your own voice throughout the session. Explorations will focus on changing things like vocal intonation, language, articulation, resonance, gestures and pitch and learning how these areas influence gender perception. Information about gender affirming voice and communication services available in our area will be shared. Individuals who are transgender as well as allies are welcome. To sign up, please call 319-335-8736 or email bobby-rodriguezjr@uiowa.edu. Space is limited to the first 17 people. Others will be added to a waitlist to be notified about the next workshop. Free parking is available in the parking garage at IRL.
Presented by Louise Pinkerton, Speech-language pathologist, and University of Iowa graduate SLP students
