Top Dogs of 2017

(be sure to click *display images*)

In 2017 dogs were, per usual, hilarious floofs, subway riders, and heroes. But they were also political candidates, protestors, deserters from government jobs, and crashers of "polite" events. They're clearly sick of us humans and have decided to take matters into their own paws. Here are the top dogs of 2017.

11. "A miscalculation was made."
"It me." - everyone

10. The CIA tried to recruit Lulu, but she said "fuck that."

9. #HuckTheRoofDog

8. Dew, who just Likes to roam
Go home, Dew.

7. Extra dog

6. Oops

5. America's Next Drag Superdog, Vanya Velour
(2017 is also the year that I got to tell Vanya's mom how much I love Vanya.)

4. Dog who loves (?) to be chased
The mayonnaise is the news, the Febreze is my responsibilities.

3. This dog who interrupted an orchestra performance in Turkey
Dog loves Mendelssohn

2. Flame, chick mama
Blair Braverman — dogsledder, writer —was trying to teach Flame to not eat the chickens. Then something adorable happened.

It even became a comic. She's Flamous!

1. Frida the rescue dog, who has saved over 50 people in Mexico, became a hero and an icon.

Random closing thoughts: In this circle of life, may you find time to gather with friends and loved ones and enjoy a rich inner life. If you're feeling low, there's always exercise, or the Dog Show. Close your eyes and imagine this ghostly spirit, or a horse. Shout out to Sondheim's poodle and the pups of BuzzFeed Canada. (Damn, I really miss Vine.) You got this.

Anyway, Rosey is here to bless your 2018, which happens to be the year of the dog. Happy new year.
(Tweet me your captions, won't you?)
