a Postcard from Malaysia Truly Asia
Hi friend,
I hope you’re doing well.
I’m writing to you from Ipoh, a former mining town a few hours north of Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia has glorious limestone caves and in this area, many of them have been turned into Buddhist or Taoist cave temples by generations of enterprising Hakka families. Inside, there are statues of enlightened figures and wall paintings, strategically lit up. Countless bats swoop in and out while cats and dogs silently pad about. The monkeys stay outside, chit chatting on the trees. Visiting humans wander around and you get the feeling that no one really knows what they’re looking at but we are pleased to be here, just the same. What extraordinary places to worship in.

If this is your first Postcard — hello! Thank you for inviting me into your inbox. You probably participated in one of my workshops recently, in which case, please do hit reply and tell me about your experience. I’m curious about what you’re curious about, esp as it relates to what you may want to hear from me about in the future.
And hello again to everyone else! This is me getting back on the writing horse after a period of not feeling like I had anything to say. Then I saw this flying Lord Hanuman on the ceiling of an Indian temple and thought it was time.

A few weeks ago, Oriana and I wrapped up the second edition of our online group coaching program, Emotions at Work. On the wings of that, I bought a domain, built a website and launched it in two days. Fastest launch ever!
We’ll run the next edition Sept-Dec. Will you take a look and consider if you know anyone who may be a good fit? (Or send any feedback on how we’re presenting the program, really. I find it challenging to switch between coach/sales hats.)
Emotions at Work
An online group coaching program to develop your emotional vocabulary with curiosity and care.
Building the program is a joy. A few times, I’ve woken up the next day after hosting a session and thought, "Wow, we did something really special yesterday.” If that’s not a sign worth pursuing, I don’t know what is, particularly for self-initiated work.

I’m headed to Tokyo soon, then nearby Yatsugatake mountains till late August. Send me some news when you have a moment?
Take care and talk soon,
Tomomi
Too cool for school, at Sree Veera Hanuman Temple near KL Sentral. It’s unapologetically bold, which is not an emotion that’s very accessible to me. I’m working on it.
