a postcard delivery
Hello friend,
This is my first newletter, the first Postcard, and it exists because I’ve wrestled to the ground the egoism of sending what’s essentially a BCC e-mail on "news from my life!". Which felt outright lazy of me, disrespectful to us, and why would anyone care…
Except you’re not "anyone". You’re someone I’m curious to better connect with, and I'm assuming, vice versa. Perhaps less happenstance updates from one of us will lead to new possibilities.
Thank you for joining me here.
Three bits of news
I’m winding down from hosting the inaugural Advanced Facilitation: Liberating Structures Intensive course with my Greaterthan partners-in-crime, Susan Basterfield, Stefan Morales and J.D. Nasaw. I’m astounded by the conversations that have opened up through the experience. More please, to the design of learning experiences that are cohort-based and grounded in practice.
Speaking of conversations, Daniel Stillman asked me onto his podcast The Conversation Factory. Daniel is a fabulous interviewer and I had a blast. If you listen to the interview, "Facilitation and Self-Leadership, will you let me know your thoughts?
Over at AQ, we're sharing lessons from our UX research experiences in the past year. My team flexed their considerable report-writing muscles and whipped up great articles on our new in-lab and remote practices. I’m playing catch-up, editing the translation for three more pieces.
What's an update without celebrating projects by friends?
Marion built a super simple tool to remind us to Breathe in, Breathe out. It’s in my bookmark toolbar. Send her your encouragement to keep making cool stuff!
J.D. is launching a 10 week program to practice Trauma-informed Collaboration. If you've been curious to go deeper on this topic, please do check it out.
That's it for now. Thanks again.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Tomomi
p.s. If you hit reply, it’ll go to my Gmail and we’ll have a "normal" e-mail convo. Cuz, BCC.
