Heelllloooooo friend!
Itās February! And by the time youāre reading this, āthe big gameā has already happened! I hope your favorite team won. ;)
Speaking of sports, my friend Rod came over recently and helped me do a sort of ātechnical rehearsalā for a podcast I plan to start. More on that soon…?!
This email doesnāt contain any tech news, necessarily. But it does have multiple video links!
I can say this now: I was fasting in January. But not food. Nope, nope. More sacrificial, interrupting, and habit changing for me: Twitter.
I opened the app once on February 1st to check for DMās and @ās. I havenāt opened it since.
Reflecting, I realize there are a few very valuable relationships and info that arenāt available elsewhere. So Iāll definitely pick it back up. But Iāll be doing some pruning, for sure.
Iām pretty cynical about folks who ātake breaksā from social media and presumably just dive back into the same thing. Iād rather find the appropriate, sustainable form of usage.
Is that even possible? I dunno. What do you think? I hope so, and for now Iām going to keep recommending folks strive for āsunstainableā.
Iām still on a quest to responsibly educate folks about our digital world. But Iām trying to work on my delivery. Iām sure thereās got to be a sweet spot. But certain facts make it hard to āease the blowā for some stories. If you have recommendations for an article, video, etc, that explained the urgency of a hard problem, without casting unnecessary fear or sensationalism, Iād love to hear about it!
Iāve got a huge pile of tech news, more scary stories of real-modern-life, and maybe some other deep thoughts coming.
But what about you? Whatād you laugh, cry, read, watch, learn, or listen to in January? Anything you want me to share with the group?
Somehow, I didnāt recall this really interesting detail from the story of Joseph:
āOf course, they didnāt know that Joseph understood them, for he had been speaking to them through an interpreter.ā ā Genesis⬠ā42:23⬠āNLTā¬ā¬
