Episode 1
Hello! I hope you're doing well!
Thanks for checking out my little Email Experiment!
"Content" ideas are all over the place at the moment, and I'm hoping that if I start regularly sharing, that a bit of a niche might begin to develop.
Here's some interesting things from this week

From Open Sourced: "explaining and exposing the hidden consequences of tech" — https://www.vox.com/2019/12/10/21004787/open-sourced-tech-data-privacy
This video raises some interesting thoughts and questions, like:
- Do you expect to be allowed to walk anonymously / in obscurity through a public space?
- The importance of "obscurity": How context collapse hampers your ability to live in different contexts: at home, at work, with friends.
Magic
One of my hobbies is learning about magic and illusions, psychological tricks, misdirection (or re-direction). I collect intermediate and advanced "magic tutorials", lessons, theory, methods, and explanations.
For being this "into magic", I sure don't perform often. It's always casual, and has a name nowadays: social magic. I've never done a scheduled show of any kind, and have no desire to do magic professionally. Not in the way it's commonly understood, at least.
I don't intend to start revealing secrets, but I would love to start some conversations. Hearing all of that, what are your immediate questions?
Recent Verse
"He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy. From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight."
- Psalms 72:13-14 ESV https://www.bible.com/59/psa.72.13-14.esv
I’m really curious to dig into the meaning and wording of that last sentence. Was it not enough to say “they are precious”?
Music
I write about music specifically on Songs From A Long Drive. I'll be posting a few Christmas recommendations over there this weekend.
Mark Rober released a video of an updated version of his "Glitter Bomb Bait Package"

Highly recommended viewing! Mark is very smart, and very nice. His videos are mostly about giant sized science experiments, with very fun outcomes. This particular video is about his way of dealing with some package thieves. :)
And if you haven’t seen the first "package thief" video, it's also great: https://youtu.be/xoxhDk-hwuo
