⏩ A quick one before dinner

An Email Experiment

Howdy friend 👋🏼!

Here's some overdue updates that I thought I would send in February!

Anticipation list for Feb/March

  • 📚 🎹 I ordered Andrew Huang's new book Make Your Own Rules. It's here, and I just need to actually read it. 😅 Without looking inside, I'm sure I'd recommend it to any artist/creative types, or folks trying to "launch" stuff on social media or YouTube.
  • 🎸 I got to see Cory Wong live , for the second time! 😄
  • 💍👰 Our wedding anniversary is in March! It's a busy time, but it's our anniversary, so we can celebrate when we want. Which might be April. 😅

Interesting drama in the music industry

I want to write so much more about this, so stay tuned I guess? Knocking this out on a Sunday before dinner with fam, and didn't have more already in draft.

First, Spotify making a bunch of nasty changes, re: royalty payments, and what counts as a stream, or what counts as music I guess.

Second: I've been following Benn Jordan for a long time now, and recently closely following some absolute drama -- when most of his music just ... suddenly disappeared from streaming services. (Link to a tweet that's somewhere in the timeline after some answers started coming out).

I may write more on the blog. I have so many thoughts. This Ars Technica post is a decent summary, that remains so very kind to corporations behind the decisions. 😬 😅

Sportsball

🏈 If you love or hate or feel indifferent about Super Bowl commercials, you might be interested in a video from Hank Green about why billionaires are showing up in commercials.

Replies

  • L: Thanks for the replies! Sorry we haven't connected yet! 😅
  • R: Thanks for introducing me to some Korean food! It was so good!

That was fast

Sending this before I think too hard about it and make it wait another 3 weeks. 😅

I have tons of bookmarks to look over and share soon.

Question ❔

❔ What's a song you wish everyone could hear? (I'll tell you mine next time. And I'll include yours if you reply before whatever random date that is! 😅)
