Avoid Getting That Parking Ticket In Ottawa During Winters!
Just sharing this for your benefit! Every year during winters (Nov-Apr) the city may announce a parking ban to help clear the roads.
If you are parking on the street, you might end up getting a ticket during the ban and these tickets are quite expensive. Mine was over $110+ CAD and at that time I didn't have a job so it sting quite a lot.
The ticket said that I had parked illegally on the highway and I thought I could dispute it because it was just a regular street not a highway. But as it turns out all the roads in Ontario are considered highways.
I didn't knew it at that time but you can actually dispute those tickets and get the fine reduced if it's your first offense but it would be in your best interest to check if the street has a winter parking ban or not beforehand and avoid the fine completely.
