Good Morning. It’s Tuesday, November 5, 2024. 

On this day in 1935, Parker Brothers released the “Monopoly” board game. First developed as “The Landlord’s Game” by Elizabeth Magie Phillips, it was intended to be a teaching tool about the pitfalls of capitalism and monopolies. Phillps sold the rights to Parker Brothers for $500. According to writer Mary Pilon, “Monopoly”  represents the American dream or a nightmare.

. . . Bob Younger, the youngest of four brothers, joined the James-Younger Gang at age 21 and died fifteen years later from tuberculosis while in prison. The botched raid of a bank in Northfield, Minnesota, on September 7, 1876, ended the crime career of all the Younger brothers. "The Youngest Younger.”

. . . The James-Younger Gang was created in the late 1860s and dissolved in 1876. Most of the gang’s lawbreaking activities center on robbing banks.
