. . . It took three years, but Texas Ranger John B. Armstrong tracked down outlaw John Wesley Hardin. Despite being outnumbered, Armstrong captured the outlaw in a train car by knocking him unconscious. "Tangled Suspenders." 

. . . When Armstrong enlisted in the Texas Rangers on May 20, 1875, he was assigned to Captain Leander McNelly, who was chosen to head up a quasi-military branch of the Texas Rangers that invaded Mexico to recover stolen cattle. “McNelly’s Law.”
