A Lady for All Seasons is out now

Before I get to the fun stuff, I want to tell you about some not-so-fun stuff. The news has been wild lately and I fear many Americans might have missed this in the deluge.
A nationwide book banning bill has been introduced in Congress. It’s called H.R. 7661 “Stop the Sexualization of Children Act” (which is really rich coming from a government that strives to protect pedophiles and greenlight genAI CSAM) and it would withhold funding from school libraries unless they remove any book that “involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism.” Transgenderism is a term used by transphobes to frame transness as an ideological belief, a thing rather than a person’s adjective. I ain’t a thing. Nobody is.
I am asking you to make a phone call. Tell your representative to vote NO on H.R. 7661. Here’s a script, adapted from this EveryLibrary petition, if you need it:
I’m calling to tell Representative ____ to oppose H.R. 7661. This bill would pressure schools to remove titles that discuss lived experiences that some politicians find controversial. I don’t think trans people are controversial. Legal precedents such as the Miller Test and state-level obscenity laws already ensure that there are no inappropriate books on school shelves. It’s unacceptable to me as a taxpayer to see so much time and effort being wasted on legislation that won’t do anything to help students learn and grow.
Authors Against Book Bans has a list of reps on the House Committee that will decide whether to advance this bill. Check to see if your rep is listed and edit the above accordingly. Share the AABB post and spread the word however you can.

Happy pub day to my 6th book, A Lady for All Seasons, the queer Regency romp about a manipulative woman (positive) who is looking for a fake marriage but finds a genderfluid poetess/novelist instead. Pick up a copy wherever queer books are sold. (My Bookshop dot org link gives me a tiny kickback if you’re looking to support me directly.)

Alert! The Trans Rights Readathon takes place March 17-31. This is a call to action to readers and book lovers in support of Trans Day of Visibility (TDoV) on March 31st. This year I’ll be matching donations for Trans formative Schools, which provides after-school programs to trans and nonbinary kids in NYC. They also show up when local school boards try to kick trans girls off their sports teams, which, yeah, is something that happens even in the liberal bastion of New York City. Reply to this email or message me on socials with a copy of your receipt (redacted to protect your personal info) and I will kick in the same amount, up to $1,000 total. Our youth deserve better. You can help.
