The Winner Is...
Dear Tiny Award enthusiast - Hello!
Thank you for signing up for updates, for voting, for spreading the word, and for being interested and supportive of the whole Tiny Awards initiative. We’re happy to announce that we have a winner for 2025!
The website taking home the Tiny Award trophy and small cash prize in 2025 is…
Fifty Thousand Names (https://fiftythousandnames.org/)
Made by Leo Scarin,
Fifty Thousand Names was made in commemoration of every single man, woman and child who, as of March 2025, had been killed as a result of Israeli attacks on Gaza following the Hamas atrocities of 7th October 2023. Hard-coded into the site are the names of each of the 50,000 dead, their age and the circumstances of their death, arranged by their age at the moment of their death. This site is a memorial wall of the human beings whose lives have been taken. It’s a heartbreaking, powerful tribute to the human cost of war, which, tragically, would feature even more names were it made today, and a memorial to the very real people whose deaths lie behind the headlines.
It feels like an appropriate winner for 2025, and received nearly a quarter of the total votes.
We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who was involved with the awards this year. From everyone who submitted a site, to the people who shared this project or a nominee with their friends, to everyone who voted, to our sponsor ZINE… but, especially, to everyone making small, interesting, homemade, heartfelt websites for the world to enjoy. These awards exist to celebrate you, and we think this year’s shortlist was the best yet.
So all that remains is to celebrate Fifty Thousand Names, to say one last thank you, and to say “See you in 2026 for next year’s Awards.” If you would like to be notified when nominations open next year, no need to do anything. But if you’d like us to leave you alone forever, just click unsubscribe and we promise not to bother you again.
Take care, and thanks again for your interest in, and support of, the web.
