Week 17: Lil Leeks

Tian Tian Farm Newsletter - September 26, 2024

Logistics:
Looking forward to seeing everyone who R.S.V.P’d for our CSA day on Saturday. If anyone has any issues getting to the farm, please feel free to text or call me: 314-728-3945.
This Week’s Share:
Baby bok choy
Shishitos
Mini-leeks
Turnips
Slicing tomato
Perilla
Shishito peppers
Garlic
We planted our leeks, along with our other alia, in a section of our farm where the weeds have gone to seed one too many times. Most of our onions got weeded in time, but our leeks did not. So we have thin leeks. And not QUITE enough to go around. We randomly included shallots in a few of your boxes instead.
The Wind Down
And so begins our wind down. We planted our last market crops, and are just about finished seeding favas and clover for cover. We’re folding drip tape, pulling tarps, and cleaning out the barn. The days are shortening, and so are our hours. It might be my favorite time of the year, as much as I love the bounty of spring and the promise of summer. Fall sweeps in with its own promises — of afternoon naps, cool air through our nostrils, and the satisfaction of closing the book on another successful season.
‘Til next week,
Steven
