Farmstand open
Hello!
We are thrilled to share that our farmstand is officially open. This week we've got bok choy, a choy, garden cress, stir-fry mix, and lettuce -- the full range of greens for salads, stir-fries, pestos, and beyond -- and our last few bundles of overwintered carrots. We've also put out sage and a few jars of homemade bok choy kimchi (!).
This moment feels so gratifying, because we've spent the last month slowly working on our "new" (made from old pallets) roadside signage, which we were determined to finish before opening the stand itself. Like many of our farm construction-ish projects, we chipped away at this one 15 minutes here, 30 minutes there. There was always another tool or part that we needed but didn't yet have. Working in increments felt almost painful, since I wanted so badly just to be finished. About a week ago, I could hardly believe it when we finally dug a hole, got that 4x4 post standing as straight as we could get it, hung those freshly painted signs, cleaned the fridge, and put our vegetables inside. I love the satisfaction of crossing a task off my to-do list: Open farmstand.
In the coming weeks, we'll continue to have greens, and we'll add more herbs as well as tomato plants. We'll be harvesting and stocking on Tuesdays and Fridays and will send weekly emails with what's fresh, along with occasional recipes and farm news. We accept cash, VIGA bucks, Venmo, and checks, and our farmstand is tucked away (just follow the signs!) below the sequoias at 24026 Wax Orchard Road. Please feel free to share this email with others.
We look forward to seeing you this season, and stay cool in this heat!
Elizabeth and Steven
