A note about what improv can bring to working for sustainability
Stop carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. Make more progress by tapping into your purpose, drive and creativity with joyful improv.
Hi
When I started studying and performing improv two years ago I was blown away by how closely the principles of improv aligned with the skills and approaches needed for sustainability leadership: working with uncertainty, building trust, deep listening and much more.
Of course, a big difference is that improv is playful and joyful, while sustainability is often weighed down by its importance and seriousness.
That’s why I’ve decided to explore bringing improv techniques into the Thrivable Scotland workshops that I’m developing – not as a gimmick, but because I believe it can provide genuinely better experiences and outcomes for participants.
I’d love you to join us at the first workshop, share your feedback and help shape what I hope will evolve into a series of workshops. Read on…
The Resilient Changemaker: playing with impact
Working for social and environmental change? Struggling to remain positive given the state of the world? Even though you and those you work with are making some progress?
You’re not alone. And the challenges we face, individually and collectively, are very real. Eco-anxiety, even fear, is understandable. But it saps our purpose and our strength:
We start to doubt ourselves;
We lose direction and focus;
We find it more difficult to engage and inspire others.
A major driver of eco-anxiety is uncertainty. Not just uncertainty about how the climate, nature and political crises will unfold, we also don’t know how effective our interventions will be, nor how much of a difference our work is really making.
What if we stop carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders? What if we refuse to let uncertainty grind us down, and jujitsu-like, turn uncertainty into positive energy?
Join us for a workshop where gentle facilitation meets joyful improv and discover how to accept uncertainty and tap into your purpose, drive and creativity, so you can move forward with greater confidence in yourself and in those you work with.
