this occasional society update

after what feels like a period of statis and resetting, musical ideas and action are starting to flow again. All being well, the weekly blogs should splutter into life soon too.

If you are quick off the mark and in Southampton, UK, Moakz is launching his album, The Critical Path tonight at Suburbia.

Yet another brilliant song and accompanying wonderful video from Roberta Fidora. After the AI mindmelt of her last video, the accompanying clip for this new one, Here come the lucky ones, has a wonderfully handcrafted feel. Album soon please?

fluttr dropped a short but oh so sweet drop of garage a few days back. all i see is as great as the stuff I’ve heard on their website. Extra love for the beautiful website design as well.

socool has been rightly recommended here a few times and they have a great new DnB single out via Dragon Trax Recordings. Whirlwind is another cracker.

Can you believe that the podcast Strange Textures, from sometime society collaborator James Hastings, has hit it’s hundredth episode! Good work fella.

Speaking of things worth following, Kristoffer Lislegaard has a newsletter. You should sign up for that.

This house was excited and delighted to discover that fedifriend Ordos Mk.0 is based just down the road in Bournemouth. Not only that, but they are on the bill for Music is the Answer on 15 August at the Bear Cave, BH8 8AD. Roooaaadtriiiippp..

Finally, if you’re on Mastodon and have been for a while, you’re probably aware of the legacy of the now departed Radio Free Fedi. Well, they are back in the form of the Radio Free Fedi Festival - a month long streaming series in July. You can find out more here.

a.o.b. - things that have replenished our creative wellspring recently

Having enjoyed the music of Tayus for some time, it’s been inspirational to see one half of the duo, Mike K Smith, share his online book The Lazy Producer for free. Really well written and full of great advice and ideas for Ableton users who want to get into ‘generative music’, it’s well worth checking out.
