Beacock Music Marks 50 Years With a Broadway-Style Celebration

Half a century in the music business is no small feat, and Beacock Music is marking the milestone in style. The beloved East Vancouver shop is planning a nostalgic revue inspired by the Broadway musicals that were filling theater seats during America's bicentennial year. If you've ever wandered the aisles for guitar strings, piano books, or your kid's first instrument, you already know this place is a Clark County institution. Skyview's girls soccer squad opened the season with five straight losses and a roster thinned by injuries β€” not exactly the script anyone drew up. But this very young Storm team has started to gel, turning their rough early stretch into a legitimate turnaround story. It's the kind of resilience that makes high school sports worth following even when the record doesn't pop off the page right away. Read more from The Columbian.

Derrick Deloney Earns Week 8 Football Player of the Week Honors

Evergreen's Derrick Deloney earned The Columbian's Week 8 high school football player of the week nod, pulling in 647 of 1,343 votes cast β€” nearly half the total. It's a well-deserved spotlight for a Plainsman who's been making plays all season. If you haven't been keeping tabs on Evergreen football this fall, Deloney is a good reason to start. Amazon Brings 1,500 Jobs to Cowlitz County With Massive Kelso Facility

A one-million-square-foot warehouse in Kelso that was built nearly two years ago without a named tenant now has a very big one: Amazon. The facility is officially open and bringing 1,500 jobs to Cowlitz County, making it one of the region's largest single-site employers. While Kelso is outside Clark County, the economic ripple from a facility this size tends to travel β€” especially for Southwest Washington job seekers. Details from The Columbian.
